New Moon in Cancer on June 25th, 2025

There is a new moon in Cancer on June 25th, as the sun has recently entered Cancer, kicking off the summer season. On one hand, the sun and moon in Cancer are conjunct Jupiter in Cancer. We are incredibility supported to be fully in our emotional power. Jupiter gives its golden touch to whatever it is near, and in Cancer it is especially potent around emotional mastery, cultivation of altruism and mutual care, and nourishing our roots, meaning our values and lineages and connection to home in all its meanings: in our individual bodies, with our loved ones, on our mother earth.

On the other hand, the sun, moon and Jupiter are being squared by Saturn and Neptune in Aries. That emotional power is being pressurized by our own egos, the egos of others, and our collective ego. Ego wants to achieve what is good for itself, it wants to protect itself, and it wants to separate out from the collective. All of these motivations are in conflict with the concept of home and belonging and roots. The roots beneath individual trees are actually connected to each other, and they support each other, as well as the other non-tree networks that co-exist with them, like the fungal networks, the insect networks, and air and water pathways. A tree in its ego would not last for long, cut off from the nutrients and processes that enable its own lifespan. Why do you think you could? What if we approached Saturn not as a marker of achievement, the stern workaholic, but as the teacher that it is? How would Aries, the brave warrior, act if Saturn could shape its energy to serve co-existence instead of ego?

Between this new moon and the next full moon, Uranus will move into Gemini, Neptune will go retrograde in Aries, and shortly after the next full moon, Saturn will go retrograde in Aries. There is a Mercury retrograde following that. This is not a stable time! This is not a consistent or reliable moment in time. It is not a good time to make decisions or choices or changes. It is a good month to find your grounding in your emotional bonds, in compassionate choices, in exploration of your own capabilities in terms of how you relate to others and to yourself. It is a time to imagine how things could be different, not to try to pull any triggers or set any stones. It is a time to re-connect with your emotional strength and re-examine what it means to be vulnerable and open, what care is. What care of others requires from the self, and how this could be an enjoyable task to take on.
